Tips for Being a Healthy Mom

As the holidays approach, it's easy to get off track.  Things are extra busy making it hard to fit in a workout.  Eating healthy also becomes difficult with all those holiday treats!  Staying healthy as a mom adds on even more challenges.  Here are a few tips to help you be a healthy mom.
  1. Create short term goals to keep yourself motivated.
  2. Do not measure your progress just on the scale.  Measure progress by inches and confidence.
  3. Stock up on healthy snacks.
  4. Keep track of what you eat in a journal.  It will give you a good idea of your caloric intake.
  5. Keep only healthy foods in your house.
  6. Carry a water bottle everywhere all the time.
  7. Workout in the morning before your children wake up.
  8. Enjoy active recreational activities with your kids like hiking and biking.
  9. Avoid eating out.
  10. Incorporate weight training and cardio in your exercise routine.
  11. Workout at home.  I know for me personally, a home program was the ONLY way I could squeeze in a workout.
  12. Try out new exercises every week.  It will promote change, challenge and avoid boredom.  Beachbody home programs are great for this.  They have new exercises every week, each different.
