Where can we find our STRENGTH and HOPE?

Friends, sometimes there are days or maybe even weeks when it’s so easy to be bogged down by the trials of life. We can get wrapped up in personal afflictions, family issues, office drama, etc. that distract us from the greater truth and hope we have in Jesus.

God tells us in 1 Peter 5:7 to “cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for [us].”
Whoa. Back up. Let's read that again: The Almighty Creator of the universe wants our anxiety--by further extension, our fears, concerns, worries--because He CARES FOR US. Me, you, my family, your family.

In Romans 3:23-25 (respectively), it says ‘for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood--to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness…”

God allows us to come to Him freely because of Jesus.

I don’t know about you, but I am quick to forget this in the face of trials and burdens in life. We have a God that cares for us so deeply that, not only did He give Jesus--His one and only Son--as a sacrifice, He also allows us to freely come to Him with the anxiety that often distracts us from remembering His goodness. Please don’t hear me say that when hardships come, we are just supposed to ignore them and ‘get over’ them. I humbly think that it pains God to see His children in their times of woe and worry. What I am saying is that sometimes those struggles cause us to forget the goodness of God in its entirety. This is why the Truth of Scripture is so important. It allows us to meditate on the very voice of our loving God.

Music is a great avenue for worship as well. There has been a song on my heart lately that is a good reminder of the hope that we have in Jesus--even through our issues. It’s called “In Christ Alone.” I’d just like to share the lyrics to you.
Christ God Bible Faith Jesus

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are still when striving cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of Hell, no scheme of man
Could ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I stand

I hope you enjoyed those lyrics, friends.

What songs are you listening to that remind you of God’s love and mercy and that we are able to cast our anxiety on Him because of Jesus? Please post a comment!
