A Devotion on Speaking LIFE and LOVE: Words Matter

A Devotion on Speaking Words of LOVE

How are you using your words? We don’t realize how much of an impact our words have, but they literally have the power to give life or give death to a person. Ladies, we all get frustrated with our husbands. We all get annoyed when he leaves his socks (or whatever else) around after we tell him over and over to pick them up. Sometimes we tend to focus on all the little things he does wrong and overlook all the other things he does right. Sometimes we just have to let go of the things that bug us.

Have you been building up your spouse with positive words? Or with comments about how he could do this or that better? ALL men want respect from the women in their lives, and they value that highly. Do you give instructions with kindness? Do you speak life into your husband?

This past week, I challenged myself and my Periscope followers to the #SpeakLife Words Challenge! for the entire week, I was only going to speak words of positivity and UPLIFT my amazing husband. I've been blessed with a husband who is patient and tolerate of me and my thyroid mood swings.

So if you're following me on Twitter, you may have seen me updating you on the #speaklife challenge. While it isn't easy, I feel SO much better and I'm sure that my husband feels uplifted and respected.

Living with an autoimmune disorder like Hashitmotos Thyroid we face many challenges -- and mood swings are just one. Add in the fatigue, and BOOM.... I can be more explosive than dynamite. And my poor husband is often on the receiving end. I made a promise to myself to pray about this every day both morning and night and ask God to HELP ME. Thankfully, the new supplements that I'm on seem to be helping the fatigue -- which I hope will help with my case of the crankies.

In this video, we talk about what the Word of God tells us about the POWER of WORDS.  We take a look at 3 scriptures:

Proverbs 18:21

18. The tongue has the power of life and death..

Proverbs 31:26
26. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness

Ephesians 5:33
33. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband

TODAY -- encourage your husband with something he does well.  Make sure to make a point of going the extra mile and out of your way to be expressive and appreciative.

Do you think you can do the #SpeakLife challenge for a week?  I'd love to hear it if you try.

  1. Wow! I am so happy that I have come across your blog! Thanks to your tweet to my post about my devotion for the night. I am @ronafundesigns on Twitter. It's the reason why I am here.

I am a blogger myself and it would be fun to join this challenge! It is so timely for me as I have a pastor husband and well, reality wise, he also would just hit my strings sometimes. Joining #speaklife challenge would be great! I have a toddler though. So i might not be able to make it every day but i will try!
